Ansel Adams
B. Landscape
Ansel Adams is a famous photographer known for his black and white, landscape photographs. These photographs were mostly taken of national parks like Yosemite. Even after the age of digital photography, the use of black-and-white film continued to fascinate Adams. Many argued that landscapes lost their impact if shot in black-and-white. However, Adams was able to take the same scenery and make color seem irrelevant.
C. Reflection
Ansel Adams is one of my favorite photographers because he is able to take a technique that most people think to be antiquated, and use it in his photos in a modern way. He proves that color is not needed to take the perfect shot. I love how his photographs look effortless when in fact he puts an immense about of time and thought into each one. Ansel Adams has been and will continue to be a major inspiration to photographers around the world.

A. Photographer
Diane Arbus
B. Portrait
Diane Arbus is known for her unique portraits of people from many different backgrounds. She has pictures of infants, children, circus performers, dwarfs, and giants. Each photograph shows different people from a different background, just as each photograph expresses a different emotion. My favorite picture she took was the one of the feminist in her hotel room.
C. Reflection
Diane Arbus style of photography often has a depressing mood. Most of her portraits consist of people with a serious or straight expression on their face. Though her work is weird and unusual, it is one of my favorites. They are my favorite because it is outside of the box.

A. Photographer
Richard Avedon
B. Portrait
Richard Avedon is a portrait photographer who lets his subjects express themselves. I've noticed that in all of his pictures, the people are not edited to make them look a certain way; they are not society's "perfect" person. I believe that the black and white filter emphasizes his natural photos. Through his work, we are able to see the shift of the world into a new era.
C. Reflection
I enjoy Richard Avedon's work because it is different from the type of photography that we see in our society today. Typically when I am flipping through magazines, I see models that are unrecognizable from themselves because of the immense amount of photoshop done on them. With Richard Avedon's pictures, he shows that it is okay to be unique and their is no need to change yourself. He pictures people with imperfect skin, imperfect bodies, and imperfect styles. One thing that all these pictures have in common is that he didn't try to cover these imperfections. In fact, he made them the main focus.
